He started as keyboard player for Juan Carlos Baglietto and Charly García before turning twenty. "Giros" (1985) and "Ciudad de pobres corazones" — written after the murder of his grandmother and great-aunt — established him as a voice of his own.
"El amor después del amor" (1992) is the best-selling Argentine rock album ever made. He has directed films and written novels, and still releases records at a pace few of his generation sustain.
