Who Silvio Rodríguez was
He was a comic-strip artist and a soldier before a musician. He wrote much of "Mujeres" and "Ojalá" during five months aboard a fishing boat.
With Pablo Milanés he founded the Cuban Nueva Trova. "Ojalá", "Unicornio" and "La maza" are sung across Latin America, often by people who do not share his politics. He has given hundreds of free concerts in Havana neighbourhoods.
