Who Friedrich Nietzsche was
He was professor of classical philology at Basel at twenty-four, the youngest in that university's history, and resigned ten years later on health grounds.
He wrote almost all his work in a single decade, in boarding houses across Switzerland and Italy, with migraines that blinded him for days. "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", "Beyond Good and Evil" and "On the Genealogy of Morals" come from that period. He collapsed in Turin in 1889 and spent his last eleven years without lucidity.
