Who Mercedes Sosa was
She won a radio contest in Tucumán at fifteen, under a false name so nobody would recognise her. She was among the signatories of the Nuevo Cancionero in 1963, the manifesto calling for a folk music that spoke of the present.
Arrested on stage in 1979, she went into exile in Paris and Madrid until 1982. Violeta Parra's "Gracias a la vida" and "Alfonsina y el mar" became hers by right of interpretation. She sang with three generations of Latin American musicians until the end.
No documented birth time exists for this person. Without a time there are no houses, no Ascendant, no Midheaven, and the wheel is not oriented: what you see are the positions by sign, which are correct, and nothing else. An incomplete chart beats an invented Ascendant.
