Who Nikola Tesla was
He emigrated to the United States in 1884 with four cents and a letter of introduction to Edison. His alternating-current system beat Edison's direct current in the "war of the currents" and is what powers the world today.
He patented more than three hundred inventions, among them the induction motor and the coil that bears his name. He died alone and penniless in a New York hotel room.
