Who Sepharial was
Walter Gorn Old studied medicine and oriental languages, and was among the few Westerners of his time who read Chinese and Hindu astrology in their sources.
He worked with Alan Leo on the magazine that popularised astrology in the United Kingdom and published manuals, ephemerides and tables of houses that put calculation within reach of non-astronomers. That work on tables is the direct ancestor of what a program does today.
