Who Virginia Woolf was
She was educated in her father's library because daughters were not sent to university, and that fact lies behind "A Room of One's Own", the essay that founded much of modern feminist criticism.
"Mrs Dalloway", "To the Lighthouse" and "The Waves" took interior monologue to a point still studied today. With her husband she founded the Hogarth Press, which published Eliot and Freud. She took her own life in the River Ouse at fifty-nine.
