Who Jiddu Krishnamurti was
The Theosophical Society chose him as a child to be the coming "World Teacher" and raised him for the role, with an international order of thousands built around him.
In 1929, at thirty-four, he dissolved that order in front of its members with a sentence that sums up his later work: "truth is a pathless land". He spent the following fifty-seven years giving talks around the world while refusing to be anyone's authority.
