Who Søren Kierkegaard was
He broke his engagement to Regine Olsen at twenty-seven and wrote about it, one way or another, for the rest of his life.
He published under a dozen pseudonyms that argue with each other, because he held that the truth that matters is subjective and cannot be stated from outside. "Fear and Trembling", "Either/Or" and "The Sickness unto Death" are the root of existentialism, a hundred years before it had the name.
